Your Online Journey is our journey. It was important to us when we started it that we were creating an ethical online business.
Digital marketing and the online business space if full of people prepared to take your money and teach you how to hustle the same make money online schemes to others. This continues the ‘get rich online’ and ‘pyramid scheme’ ickyness. It doesn’t sit right with us.
If you haven’t come across BCorps and been inspired by them, check it out.
Certified B Corporations are a new kind of business that balance purpose and profit.
B Corporations, or B Corps, make decisions that make a positive impact across their workers, customers, suppliers, community, and the environment.
We aspire to be a BCorp. We encourage other online businesses to consider being a BCorp.
Part of our online business journey will include how you can establish an operate and online business that is:
- an ethical online business.
- uses the BCorp assessment to check balance purpose and profit.
We won’t be perfect. If you see somewhere we could do better. Perhaps a bad habit from the past, or an opportunity we haven’t realised. Please get in touch.
Why do we choose to operate and ethical online business
Align profit with purpose.
Be inspired by the people we keep company. People like Soul Hippy.
Give back where we can.
It just feels right.
Can you do affiliate marketing and have an ethical online business
We believe so. We would prefer there are more people creating content about how to make money online – and do it ethically! Then, letting those that just want to see you parted with your hard-earned cash with no ethical checks and balances. We don’t think we’ll be perfect at this. We might stuff up sometimes. Feel free to let us know if you do.
How do you keep affiliate marketing ethical?
Disclaimers are a good start. Letting people know that the link you include or product / service you recommend pays you a commission.
Putting our website visitors and customers before profits. There are plenty of products and affiliate commissions that pay high returns, with poor outcomes for our website visitors. We won’t use them on this site.
Doing our research. We won’t recommend something we haven’t personally used or vetted. We can’t continue to use every product or we would run out of money very soon. We’re still a business! But we will keep researching and doing due diligence before adding any links.
Avoiding green washing. Sadly, its a thing. Companies know you’ll pay more if you get the good feeling of doing something positive. Again, we’ll do research (we hope you do to).
What can you do to have an ethical online business?
Clearly, any businesses that we inspire to get started and to grow, we hope will choose to consider how they operate their business.
